Maj Coatsworth retired from the Regular Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2015 following 37 years' service with the Royal Corps of Signals. During this time, he was involved in the provision of battle winning communications and information systems to the British Army in operational theatres around the world, including Germany, Beirut, the Falkland Islands, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Brunei and Central America, to name a few. Upon his retirement, Neil found employment as a business manager for an Occupational Health company and continued his association with the Armed Forces by joining the Army Reserves. With no previous experience in the world of Occupational Health, he discovered that the wide-ranging skills he had developed during his military service helped him adapt to his new role with relative ease. These skills enabled him to make subtle improvements to processes, modify team responsibilities and rationalise workstreams which ultimately improved team ethos and performance. Since then, he has continued to be impressed by the dedication and utility of the Reservist, particularly in how their wide range of skills and disciplines are utilised in their civilian careers.
